Read Restoration and Remediation FAQ's

Question : Can I shut off the equipment when CDT is not attending to my property?
Answer : For several reason you should not shut off equipment. Restoration and remediation is a lot like surgery in that if you were to stop the process of surgery before it was complete, the result would almost always result in something worse than what the surgery was originally intended to repair. We often leave equipment working unattended over night so that the job process can continue 24 hours a day. If this process is stopped, several things may happen; 1 - you property will not be completed in a timely manner, 2 - if the process is half completed and then stopped, it may result in the need to return to the site, and either restart the equipment, or in some cases rip out the partially completed task and start all over again., 3 - in stopping the equipment you may unintentionally damage the equipment itself, further damage your property, or worse, hurt yourself as much of the equipment and materials we use have hazards associated with them that require special training to operate safely.

Question : Is the drying equipment safe to leave on constantly?
Answer : Absolutely! The equipment is ours - privately owned - and is not rented. We know the age, service time, service record and dependability of every item we use. Additionally, all of our drying equipment uses self breaker electrical circuits which ensure safe shut down of the equipment if all else were to fail.

Question :How much power does the equipment use?
Answer : Generally speaking, we always strive to use the most power efficient and environmentally friendly equipment which is available to us, however, every item of equipment is different. If you require a more detailed power consumption profile, please ask your project manager for a list of the equipment being used on your project and how many hours it will be used for which can be used to reconcile power consumption against the manufacturers spec sheets which are readily available on their respective websites.

Question : Is duct cleaning always required?
Answer : The need for duct cleaning depends entirely on the type of damage to the property and/or the work being done. For instance, if materials such as drywall or insulation were being replaced duct cleaning would be required because of the resulting dust. Another example would be if the HVAC system at the affected property had been contaminated by water or mould, this would require decontamination or replacement of the duct system. To understand the specifics as they apply to your project please contact your CDT International project manager.

Question : How much does CDT International charge?
Answer : This depends entirely on the scope of the project. We are happy to visit the project site so that we can give you a comprehensive written quote before beginning the work.

Question : How long until the project is completed?
Answer : We pride ourselves on completing projects quickly and effectively, however, the answer to this question really depends on the scope of the job. For a specific answer please contact your CDT International Project Manager for details.

Question : How do I prepare for the start of a project?
Answer : This also depends on the scope of the project. Please contact your CDT International Project Manager for details. That being said, under no circumstances should you put yourself in harms way to "clean up a bit". There are many serious hidden dangers when dealing with restoration and remediation projects. These can include electrocution, mould related illness, asbestos, bacteria and unsafe structures. We are highly trained to deal with these risks on your behalf - to keep you, your clients, employees and family safe.
